The IPL Continues To Move On Controversies

The IPL continues to move on untouched with a string of controversies and court cases that have been lingering along the league. Sponsors and advertisers continue to remain undisturbed by the former IPL chairman Lalit Modi financial irregularities.

IPL has become the hot and happening topic of the season. The chief officer of Madison Media, Harsha Joshi said, “The fact that IPL has 11 sponsors as against nine of last season, and these sponsors signed up for the IPL in the midst of all the controversies and court cases indicates that the advertisers see clear value and benefit of association with IPL.”

The league is still going through a lot of turmoil and hasn’t come out of it completely. In a latest report, Brand Finance which is a firm which specializes in brand valuation has set a value of IPL for $3.67 billion which was $4.13 billion the previous year. The managing director of Brand Finance, India M Unni Krishnan said, “The IPL juggernaut has hit a speed breaker with an erosion of $460 million of its long-term value.”  He further continued saying, “IPL's sustainability will largely depend on infusing governance policies to align all the stakeholders towards win-win relationships and thereby preserving the value in the long run."
