Background

      ICC stands for the International Cricket Council. This council started the ICC World Twenty20 in the year 2007. This cricket tournament is commonly known as the ICC World T20 or the ICC T20 World Cup. This international tournament is held in various host countries every two years. This year the ICC T20 is to be held in Sri Lanka from 18 September 2012 to 7 October 2012. For every T20 series there is as special logo cum mascot designed. This time is no exception and the logo this time is called “Modern Spin”.

The Logo gets Unveiled

      The logo Modern Spin has been designed by a icc T20 2012 world cup logo creative firm Witekite which is located in New South Wales, Australia. This logo was proudly unveiled in November 2011 by the outgoing ICC chief Mr Haroon Lorgat. The Malaysian dignitary expressed his delight in having the opportunity to unveil the logo which is an embodiment of the vibrant colors of the Sinhalese culture. The event he said has now been given a formal identity which will enable its promotion using this theme.

About the Logo and Mascot

      This logo is representative of the language and culture of Sri Lanka as well as containing elements of the actual cricket tournament. The curves of the logo are based on the lines of the Sinhalese script. The ICC T20 World Cup Logo represents the word “T20” in bright orange and red which represents the bright colors of the Sri Lankan culture. The word‘t’ represents a spin bowler which merges into ‘2’. Finally, the ‘0’ is representative of a cricket ball.

Conclusion

      The ICC T20 World Cup Logo and Mascot is a fine example of artistic innovation in a logo design which at the same time conveys a message about the entity which it represents. All communication and promos in the days to come in connection with the ICC T20 World cup will bear this logo.
